Surkhab Shaukin is a professional International Photographer who has studied at two of the most prestigious Photography schools/Institutes/Universities i.e. Brooks Institute of Photography, California and RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology), New York. He started photographing at the age of eleven and even held his first Solo Photo Show at the age of thirteen; the youngest In India ever to do that and since then he has held various national and International shows. IPA has honored him with four International Photo Awards.
Prof. Bill Dubois, the chairman of CIAS (College of Imaging Arts and Sciences) at the prestigious Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), New York, recognised his talent and creativity. He selected Surkhab (then pursuing commercial photography) at Brooks Institute of Photography, California and presented him with a prestigious scholarship to study Photography at RIT, (Rochester Institute of Technology), which is the oldest and most renowned university in its field, established in 1829 and rated among the best in the world for photography.
After completing this four-year degree course in Photography, Surkhab worked with many renowned photographers in Manhattan (New York) like Eric Piasecki, Chris Collins, Sharon Schuster etc. over three years, while also shooting on his own. He returned home to India thereafter and has been photographing here ever since. His work includes, but is not limited to, People, Travel, Still Life and Fine Art. He has photographed for brands like United Colors of Benetton, Gulf Oil, Sisley, IPL Team Kings XI Punjab, IPL team Gujrat Lions, BCL (box cricket league) TV series etc. He has also shot coffee table books on The Western Command of the Indian Army and on Punjab, ‘Punjab: India Begins Here’.
